SoloWise adds clarity
Going on a hike alone can be a great way to disconnect and relax. No signal. No messages. No updates.
To friends and family, that absence of contact is expected but also easy to misinterpret — until too much time has passed. The danger isn't hiking alone. The danger is when something goes wrong and no one realizes it soon enough.

Clear answers
No. SoloWise is a check-in system, not a search-and-rescue or emergency response service. SoloWise helps people who hike alone or in small groups schedule check-ins in advance and automatically notifies contacts only if a check-in is missed. The contacts must then contact search and rescue or other appropriate agencies.
No. SoloWise does not monitor activity. Location tracking is entirely optional. You get to choose when and where your location is saved.
No. Your friends and family do not need to know when check-ins are scheduled. They are only notified if you miss a scheduled check-in.
Once a check-in is saved, SoloWise does not rely on your device or its connection to send alerts to your contacts. The alerts are sent directly from SoloWise. If something goes wrong, and you cannot check in, your contacts will be notified as scheduled.
Even when things do go as planned, you need to have cell service or an internet connection to check in. Do not schedule your check-in time until you are certain you will get to a location with a connection. The Alarm Delay setting allows you to add a grace period to your check-in time before SoloWise alerts your contacts, to account for running late or simply forgetting to check-in.
Yes. Bad weather and other natural disasters can affect entire groups. SoloWise is designed to work for groups, as well as for individuals. Multiple people can be added to the same check-in, so the alert reports share the information of everyone involved.
SoloWise can be used in any web browser on any device. Native app availability may vary by platform. Optionally, check-ins can also be sent via text message.
